MGM TO LAUNCH NEW HIGH DEFINITION CHANNEL IN BRAZIL - THE COMPANY’S FOURTH HD CHANNEL DEBUT


Latest Channel Launch Brings Localized Portuguese Language Version of

The MGM HD Channel to Audiences Throughout Brazil

Los Angeles, CA April 28, 2009 -- MGM Networks, a division of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc., has announced today that it is launching a Portuguese language version of its MGM HD Channel, the 24/7 linear network delivering a robust library of classic and contemporary films in the 1080i high definition format, on SKY Brazil, the country’s leading satellite television service provider.

MGM HD will serve as a complement to the standard definition MGM Channel, which has been serving Brazil’s movie lovers since December 1997, offering SKY subscribers a unique viewing experience and separate programming schedule.  The announcement was made today by Bruce Tuchman, President, MGM Networks.

Backed by the world’s largest modern film library, consisting of more than 4,100 film titles and winner of 209 Academy Awards®, MGM HD will offer a very compelling proposition in the expanding HD marketplace. In addition to classic MGM theatrical hits, MGM HD will be the ultimate resource for serious movie fans, providing viewers an array of original programming and new films, and Brazilian premieres of true 1080i HD content from the MGM library.

Brazil marks the fourth world market to launch a localized version of the MGM HD Channel, which debuted in Poland in December 2006.  Following this first high definition launch, MGM rolled out the MGM HD Channel in the U.S. in October 2007.  In April of 2008, the MGM HD Channel launched in Israel joining the existing standard definition MGM Channel in this key middle-eastern market.  The MGM HD Channel launch in Brazil continues the studio’s aggressive and successful expansion drive for MGM Networks worldwide, in both standard and high definition, and across scores of markets on every inhabited continent.
