Beginning with this month, MGM Channel’s THEME NIGHT will step back in time and showcase the movies and stars who defined a whole decade. Watch films capturing the spirit of that period as well as documentaries about characteristic music and lifestyle. In February the three months special called MGM VINTAGE starts off with the 70’s.

The 70s - a magical decade tucked between the swinging 60’s and the decadent 80’s, the era of slack suit and afro hairdo, disco music and platform shoes. Against the backdrop of a war still raging in Vietnam and the escalading Cold War, Hollywood came up with new concepts of filming and storytelling bringing out directors such as Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas and unique genres such as Blaxploitation.
Watch Clint Eastwood at his best in the iconic crime thriller Dirty Harry. See Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider in Bernardo Bertolucci’s erotic classic Last Tango In Paris which caused an international scandal when it was first released in 1972 due to several permissive sex scenes. Do not miss Richard Roundtree as the incredibly cool private investigator in the original Shaft. Follow James Coburn, Kris Kristofferson and Bob Dylan in one of the best western of the 70’s: Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid.
