Film Noir Sunday
Crime, a femme fatale, betrayal and many intrigues: This is what defines a Film Noir.
On MGM Channel’s Sunday nights in September the story can centre on an heiress who shouldn’t trust anyone (Masquerade), an ex-boxer who escaped a mental hospital (After Dark, My Sweet), a detective who is linked to several murders (Traces Of Red), or a girl who escapes small town life and encounters a mysterious man in the big city (Exposed).
Originally, Film Noir movies were made during the classic period (1940-50) and usually low-budgeted without any big stars. Due to this, writers, directors, cinematographers, and others were relatively free from the usual big picture constraints. Thus they experimented more than possible in most Hollywood filmmaking and succeeded in creating a new genre.
